Event Monitoring & Alert System (EMAS).
Event Monitoring & Alert System handles exceptional situations based on the predefined events or alarms sent from other modules and notifies the corresponding person-in-charge on timely manner.
The application is to meet the objectives below:
• to reduce scraps in production lines by timely indication of process problem.
• to improve the upkeep of equipment.
• to improve the equipment utilization by proactive maintenance.
• to facilitate equipment troubleshooting.

Functional Features.
User Login Accounts
Login accounts for security control. Users must log into his own account to use any functions of this system. Login can be done in 2 ways:
• through graphical user interface (GUI) login screen
• through phone interaction
Defining Events / Alarms
Events and the corresponding alarms are to be predefined by users. The system allows users to define, modify and remove events and alarms accordingly. Users will also define the notification lists while they are defining events. And, events can be categorized into groups and subgroups for ease of reference and analysis.
Event-Alarm Triggering
When an event occurs, the relevant alarm will be triggered for alert. The alarm can be triggered either manually by users or by equipment controller or other system modules.
Alert/Notification
Once event/alarm occurs, emails, SMS messages or phone calls will be sent or made so that the notification is sent to the right person-in-charge via alarming services.
Event History Log
Every event occurrence will be logged into files as history records for engineers to analyze the performance of equipment or process. All these log files can be viewed via a log viewer.
Technical Aspects:
• Web-based, web browser required.
• Support phone sevices via integration through socket communication with various voice cards (e.g. Dialogic).
• Use of Text-to-Speech (TTS) software for English and Mandarin phone messages (e.g. SinoVoice 捷通华声)
• Programming language: Java JDK 1.4
• Application servers: WebLogic 8.1, OC4J 10g, JBoss 3.0.3, and Tomcat 5.0.18.
• Database: Oracle
• Web technology used:
- HTML pages and JSP/Servlet for user interaction screens.
